DUCK, DUCK, CAIRN, DUCK. 2

This picture post is dedicated to all the rock Ducks and Cairns that helped me navigate across the Sierra.

CAIRN: “A pile of stones that marks a place or shows the direction of the trail.”

DUCK: ” A pile of stones that marks either the direction of the trail or the route the last person took when they were lost.”

I love reading your blog posts, Bren! And the photos are breathtaking! Makes me feel like I’m there, especially the description of the wind as you put your boots on – feeling like Winnie the Pooh. Can’t wait to hear all about it when you return to your urban life.

Mine trail duck: awesome! You show good and even artsy duck/cairn examples here…. some of those on our trail: questionable!! 😉 😉 A good idea to post all these examples–they’re fun to look at!
